Terms of use
These terms cover Custom Shed Plans (the designer at this address) and the plan sets you buy from it. Custom Shed Plans is run by Worth Mountain Studio in Vermont, USA. By using the designer or buying a plan set, you agree to them.
The short version
- You can build as many sheds from your plan set as you like, for yourself, for family, or to sell.
- You can sell the finished sheds, take jobs and build for clients from it.
- You can't share, post, resell or give away the plan set itself, in whole or in part.
- Check before you cut. The plans are carefully made, but you build at your own risk.
1. Your plan set license
When you buy a plan set, you get a lasting, non-exclusive license to use it to build. In particular:
- Build the shed as many times as you like, in any finish, and change it as you go.
- Sell what you build, at craft fairs, online, to clients or through a shop. No credit or royalty is owed, though a mention of Custom Shed Plans is always appreciated.
- Print the plan set and keep copies in your shop. People helping you build may use them while they do.
- Show your finished work and your build process in photos and videos.
2. What the license doesn't allow
The plan set (the PDF, its drawings, cut lists, sheet layouts, assembly steps and pictures) stays the property of Worth Mountain Studio. You may not:
- Resell, give away, share or trade the plan set or any part of it, printed or digital.
- Post it, or pages from it, on a website, forum, social media, file-sharing service or marketplace.
- Copy it to make your own plans, kits or courses for sale, or pass off its drawings as your own.
- Share your download link. It's tied to your purchase.
A class or a shed-building business that wants to use one plan set with several people should email us. We're happy to work something out.
3. Using the designer
The designer and its previews are free to use. Please don't scrape it, overload it or try to get plan sets without paying. Designs you make are saved in your own browser; a design is saved on our side only when you buy it, so the plan set can be built for you.
4. Accuracy and safety
Plan sets are generated from the sizes and options you choose. We work hard to make them right, but we can't see your shop, your materials or your tools, so:
- Check the drawings and cut list against your design, and your materials, before cutting. Plywood, lumber and hardware vary from their listed sizes.
- Lumber counts, sheet counts and costs are estimates. Buy a little extra.
- Follow the instructions that come with your tools and hardware, use safety gear and fall protection, and get help to raise walls and set rafters.
- The plans are not an engineered or stamped design. You are responsible for permits, setbacks, and meeting your local building code, snow and wind loads; check with your building department before you build.
- Pieces for kitchens, bathrooms and other installed uses may need to meet local codes. That's up to you.
Plan sets are provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, Worth Mountain Studio isn't liable for injury, damage, lost materials or other losses from building or using a shed, and our total liability for any plan set is limited to what you paid for it.
5. Prices and payment
Prices are in US dollars and shown before checkout. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. Sales tax is added where it applies. If something goes wrong with a plan set, see the refund policy.
6. Shop links and sponsors
Some links to hardware and tools are affiliate links: we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Sponsored content is marked "Sponsored".
7. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the bottom shows the latest version. The terms that applied when you bought a plan set keep applying to it.
8. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Vermont, USA.
